Healthy Lifestyle

I get so many questions about what I eat and what I don’t eat, etc. I don’t like to call what I eat a diet but more of a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy eating healthy and NO I do not crave junk food because I want to feed my body the most nutritious  foods. No I am not a vegan, though I was before, but now I eat a balanced diet of non processed, health foods because this works best with my body and gives me energy to keep up with my workouts. Basically, I eat whole, real and nutritious foods. I do not eat dairy milk, cheese or red meats and I like to stick to veggies, fruit, complex carbs and lean proteins. The only dairy I consume is PLAIN (Do not get flavored yogurt it is full of sugar and crap) yogurt on occasions. The main thing you want to focus on when eating a healthy diet isn’t calories, but the ingredients label. I stay away from processed foods, sugar and simple carbs. Yes a pretzel may be “low calorie” or “low fat” but has absolutely no nutritious value. A lot of people think they are eating healthy by eating diet shakes or diet yogurts filled with sugars and other ingredients that you probably couldn’t even pronounce. The key to eating a real, clean, healthy diet would to be LOOK AT THE INGREDIENTS! :)

Examples of what I eat:

- First thing in the morning, before eating anything I take a shot of apple cider vinegar, this can Aid in weight loss, as it revs up your metabolism, promotes healthy blood sugar, has a ton of antioxidants, and improves nutrient absorption. I also drink a HUGE glass of lemon water, which starts the digestion process and hydrates you after your long nights sleep.

COFFEESorry peeps but I cannot live without my coffee!!!! I have mastered the bulletproof coffee and you need to try it!! I use a tsp or a tbsp of grass fed ghee and coconut oil and add a dash of unsweetened vanilla almond or soy milk! This reallllly helps digestion and get things moving if ya know what I mean! Ghee is also loaded with healthy fats and nutrients.

BREAKFASTahh breakfast :) If you know me, you know this is my favorite meal of the day. Even my boyfriend jokes how I can out eat him in breakfast. I like to start my day with a big breakfast and then smaller meals throughout my day. I like zucchini oatmeal, plain yogurt, egg white pancakes, egg whites and avocado, smoothies, and smoothie bowls. I like to get creative with my toppings and add nut butters (READ THE INGREDIENTS!!!! choose nut butters only containing nuts, stay away from Jiff and Skippy peanut butter), mulberries, goji berries, fresh fruit and berries and maybe even a piece of 90% dark chocolate ;).

LUNCHLunch for me is usually after I workout so I like to keep it light! I usually have a protein smoothie my favorite is pea protein and bone broth protein and I love to add super foods like maca powder, spirulina, chlorella, bee pollen, camu camu powder, chia seeds and flaxseeds (which I will make a whole blog post on superfoods), kale salad with quinoa and chickpeas, zucchini pasta or a lean protein such as fish, chicken or turkey with veggies. My favorite are zucchini, artichoke, eggplant, red onion, tomato, fennel, asparagus and broccoli!

DINNERDinner is mostly the same, minus the smoothie because I like to only have fruit in the A.M. but for dinner I usually will have a lean protein like fish or chicken, sometimes tofu. I always have a side of veggies for dinner, sautéed spinach with garlic is my fav! (except not my boyfriends because then I smell like garlic for the rest of the night! hahaha). I also like to have plain sweet potato with my dinner to get in those complex carbs and also 1/2 an avocado to get in healthy fats (DO NOT BE SCARED OF FAT!!) :)

SNACKSSnacks are usually nuts, veggies, turkey or if you really know me you know I love carrots and mustard (ACTUALLY SO GOOD).

Also remember this is what works best for my body and everyone is different :)
